What “redeem code” means in Star Citizen

Players search Star Citizen redeem code when they want to claim a bonus at signup. On RSI that bonus is a referral code shaped like STAR-XXXX-XXXX (example: STAR-RZXJ-XZ6K). You redeem it by entering it when you create an account - not by logging into an unofficial “redeem” page.

There is a second kind of code: store promo, gift, or ship codes. Those are redeemed after you already have an RSI account, in the official pledge store / redeem area. Mixing the two is the usual reason a “redeem code” appears to fail.
