Yes. Cloud Imperium opened the Squadron 42 Steam store page for wishlisting on October 10, 2026. The page lists a planned release of Q2 2027. The game is not available to buy or download on Steam yet, and no price is shown.

Does a Star Citizen referral code unlock Squadron 42?

No. A referral code such as STAR-HBP4-QP46 grants 50,000 aUEC when you create a new RSI account for Star Citizen. It does not wishlist Squadron 42, discount it, or add a copy of the game to your hangar. The official referral program describes some referrer rewards as Star Citizen and Squadron 42 themed. Those are program rewards, not the campaign itself.

Do I need an RSI account for Squadron 42 on Steam?

The Steam page says Squadron 42 requires a Roberts Space Industries account and supports linking that account to Steam. You can wishlist with a Steam account alone. Playing, once the game is released, is described as needing the RSI account. Creating that account now is also when a Star Citizen referral code can be entered.

What are the Squadron 42 Steam minimum requirements?

As listed on Steam on October 11, 2026: Windows 11, a quad-core Intel Core i7 Sandy Bridge or later or AMD Bulldozer or later, 16 GB RAM, a DirectX 11.1 graphics card with 8 GB VRAM, DirectX 12, broadband, and 150 GB of storage. Recommended specs were not filled in beyond a 64-bit processor and operating system. These differ from the Star Citizen alpha support article.

Steam wishlisting opened October 10, 2026. The store page lists a planned release of Q2 2027 (April through June). There is no purchase button, no price, and no download. Add it on Steam or read the official site at squadron42.com.

A closed hands-on event in Manchester (October 9-11, 2026) and the Steam page are not a Star Citizen Free Fly.

What Squadron 42 is

Squadron 42 is Cloud Imperium's single-player campaign in the same universe as Star Citizen. Steam describes it as enlisting in the UEE Navy: fly combat ships, fight on foot, and move through capital ships, stations, and outposts with a crew. The wishlist trailer, titled The Oath, sets the story in 2945. Coverage of the announcement names a large performance-capture cast, including Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, and Henry Cavill.

Star Citizen is the shared persistent-universe alpha (live build Alpha 4.10.2 as of October 9, 2026). Squadron 42 is a story campaign with its own release window. You do not need one to wishlist the other.

Referral codes and Squadron 42

Enter STAR-HBP4-QP46 (or any valid STAR-XXXX-XXXX code) when you create an RSI account. That bonus is 50,000 aUEC in Star Citizen.
The code does not add Squadron 42 to a Steam wishlist, apply a Steam discount, or put the campaign in your hangar.
Do not assume persistent-universe aUEC spends inside Squadron 42 unless Cloud Imperium says so.
The official Referral Program says referrers can unlock exclusive Star Citizen and Squadron 42 themed rewards. Those are ladder items. They are not a copy of the campaign. Confirm the live ladder on referral rewards.

Steam says the game requires a Roberts Space Industries account and supports linking that account to Steam. Wishlisting itself is a Steam action. Making the RSI account now is what lets you claim the Star Citizen bonus during the 24-hour window. Steps: referral code guide.

If you already pledged on RSI

Squadron 42 is not available to download yet. RSI Support says accounts that own a pledge containing Squadron 42 will be able to download it after release. A current Star Citizen starter that lists only Star Citizen Digital Download is not automatically that pledge. Hangar has separate game-access marks for Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Check Setting Your Game Access Pledge and the includes line on the package before you assume you already own the campaign.

The Steam page is a new storefront. It does not say that an RSI Star Citizen package converts into a Steam copy, or the other way around.
