Before you start

How to create your RSI account

  1. Open the official enlist page. From the RSI site you can use Sign-in -> "Create one!", or jump straight here with the code pre-filled: Enlist with STAR-RZXJ-XZ6K.
  2. Account name (handle). This is the public name other players see in the verse and on Spectrum. Pick carefully - name changes are limited or unavailable depending on RSI policy at the time.
  3. Email. Used for sign-in, two-factor codes, and account recovery. Use an address you control long-term.
  4. Password. RSI requires a reasonably strong password (length plus mixed characters - follow the on-page rules). Do not reuse a password from other games or email.
  5. Birth date. Entered in the format the form shows (typically month/day/year). Required to create the account.
  6. Referral Code. Optional, but free. Format is STAR-XXXX-XXXX. Confirm STAR-RZXJ-XZ6K is in the field, or paste it yourself. On the current form the box is hard to miss - usually near the bottom with date of birth and the consent checkboxes. A pre-filled enlist link often shows the code in a side panel as well.
  7. News & terms. Newsletter / Squadron 42 updates are optional. Accepting the terms of use and privacy policy is required.
  8. Submit, then verify email. Open the confirmation email and finish verification before you expect full website access.

Missed the referral field?

You have about 24 hours after account creation to add a code:

  1. Go to robertsspaceindustries.com and log in.
  2. Click your account icon (upper right).
  3. If you are still inside the window, a referral code entry box appears on the account summary panel - enter STAR-XXXX-XXXX (for example STAR-RZXJ-XZ6K).

After 24 hours - or after a code is already set - that box goes away and is replaced by your code for sharing. RSI Support will not attach a late referral. If the account has no pledges, some players close it and start over (see RSI's close-account process). Full redeem rules: referral code guide.

Save recovery codes

In the account dashboard open Settings -> Security (you may need to re-enter your password). Manage / view your backup recovery codes, then store them offline. CIG may ask for one if you lose access.

Two-factor authentication

RSI turns on email-based 2FA by default for website and launcher logins on new devices. Keep it enabled. If email codes are painful, RSI supports authenticator apps such as Authy or Google Authenticator from security settings - still better than turning 2FA off.

Account FAQ

Yes. Creating an account is free and does not require a purchase. Permanent play outside Free Fly needs a game package on the official store.

No. A code is optional. Using one (for example STAR-RZXJ-XZ6K) adds the standard 50,000 aUEC new-player bonus at no charge.

No. Once your account is linked to a referrer, it cannot be switched. Double-check the code before you submit the enlist form.

On the RSI site, open Billing & Subscriptions and check credits / the UEC log for a sign-up bonus line (currently 50,000 UEC for accounts created under the current program; older accounts may show 5,000). In-game aUEC can lag slightly if you add the code after signup.
